TOWNSVILLE'S Ruth Corset
was named Australia's women's road cyclist of the year after a
breakthrough season which saw the 32-year-old finish 12th at the world
championships in Switzerland.
The mother of two young daughters, who
only took up cycling competitively three years ago, in her first season
racing in Europe also claimed a stage win in the La Route de France and
twice finished on the podium in the Tour Feminin en Limousin.
Corset,
who will compete with her new American team Tibco in Europe next year,
is preparing for next month's national championships, with world
championships in Geelong in August another major goal.
